For centuries the artist has recorded, remembered and made work that honored and embodied the popular messages and less popular notions of the people. Poets, performers and painters have addressed important issues such as democracy, anarchy, peace or war through song and storytelling, object making and art. These times we now live in are filled with daunting challenges and exciting choices and it is important to exercise the role each of us can play in creating solutions. Speak Up.

• Eligibility: Exhibition is open to all artists working in any media. Innovative works are
welcome. All works must be for sale or available by commission. NHArts Inc. retains35% commission on all sales.
• Jury process: All works are judged in a blind jury process. Jurors consider works based on artistic excellence and aesthetic vision
• Application Procedure: Each artist may submit 4 pieces for consideration. In addition to a primary slide, artists may submit a second view or detail. All slides must be accompanied by an application form, current resume and artist statement. Entries must be postmarked by September 7, 2008.
• Exhibition space: The exhibition will be held at the New Hope Arts Center, located on Stockton Avenue, between Main Street and the Michener Art Museum in New
Hope, Pennsylvania. The 3000 plus square foot exhibition is well suited for larger works.

ELIGIBILITY – All AFA members are eligible to submit art for the “2008 AFA Member Exhibit – Part II”. There is an entry fee of $10 for the first work, and $5 for up to two additional works. All work must be original; in any medium; not previously exhibited at the AFA Gallery; framed and matted (if appropriate); and ready to hang (with wire), if to be wall-mounted. All works are expected to be for sale.
JURYING – Jurying of all works will be done for space. At least one work of all artists submitting work will be hung.
DELIVERY – Works may be dropped off at the AFA Gallery, 514 Lackawanna Avenue, Scranton, on Friday, August 29th, or Saturday, August 30th, from 12 noon to 5:00 PM.
EXHIBITION DATES – The exhibit will be on exhibit at the AFA Gallery from Thursday, September 4th, through Saturday, September 27th. Gallery hours are from noon until 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays. Artists must pick up their work after the exhibit on Saturday, September 27th or during Gallery hours the following week.
RECEPTION -A reception will take place on First Friday, September 5th, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the AFA Gallery. It is expected that all artists in the exhibit will contribute food for the reception.
GALLERY SITTING - It is expected that all members in the exhibit will volunteer to gallery sit.
The AFA Gallery will exhibit the work of the members of AFA in its ‘2008 AFA MEMBER EXHIBIT – Part II’ during the month of September. The exhibit will run from Thursday, September 4th, through Saturday, September 27th. There will be an opening reception on First Friday, September 5th, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.
The exhibit will feature the works of artist members of Artists for Art, a regional, non-profit visual arts organization which operates the AFA Gallery. It is expected that works of approximately forty artists will be exhibited, covering a wide range of styles and subject matters. Work will include oils, pastels, ceramics and sculpture.
The AFA Gallery is located at 514 Lackawanna Avenue, Scranton. The Gallery is open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from noon until 5 PM.
