Windsor Whip Works Art Gallery - Five Abstract Artists From The Sodus Art Bank

Ξ November 4th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ ALL POSTS, LOCAL EXHIBITIONS |

Windsor Whip Works Art Gallery in Windsor, NY, extends an invitation to a reception for Five Abstract Artists From The Sodus Art Bank -Joanne Thorne Arnold, Judith Croce, Bruce Sodervick, Amanda Lee, & Jeremy Holmes. November 15, 2008, 6-9pm. The exhibit will remain until January 15, 2009. The exhibit features five fabulous abstract artists who shared a residency at The Sodus Art Bank in Sodus, NY, a place where artists explore, experiment, and develop.

Joanne Thorne Arnold. The inspiration and creation of her current body of work started this summer while on a month long artist residency at the Sodus Art Bank in Sodus, NY. The shared experience of being with other like minded artists was the catalyst for her most recent series of colorful abstract oil paintings. With this in mind, Joanne has invited her fellow residents to renew their summer experience and share in this exhibition.

Judith Croce, “My paintings are about color and light contained in a minimal, geometric format. The memory of place and time is important to me and each painting is a manifestation of this idea both literally and as metaphor. “

Bruce Sodervick. Sculptor of national fame, through the expressive manipulation and use of molten metal and glass, the intention of his work is to arouse feelings and associations of past life experiences, “and so we meet again long ago and far away.”

Amanda Lee. Sculptor and co-director of the Sodus Art Bank where she is currently exploring the expressive use of glass in her sculpture. “I evolved as a person independent and in opposition to early structures. It is my own personal catharsis, and the process necessary for urgent resurfacing.”

Jeremy Holmes. Abstract Sculptor. “I construct abstract wood sculptures which emphasize materiality and an engagement between the viewer, the site, and the work. The viewer becomes aware of the whole volume of a room in which they are a part of with my work because of the way it travels around the floor, walls and ceiling.”
