Keystone College Alumni Art 09

The Linder Gallery at Keystone College will present its first-ever juried alumni art exhibition from October 16 through November 24 on the Keystone campus in La Plume. The exhibit Alumni Art 09 will feature artwork in all media by 34 selected alumni from the 1960s through 2008.
A variety of activities will accompany the exhibit during Homecoming Weekend at the College, beginning with a reception for the artists on Friday, October 16 from 6-8 p.m. in the Gallery. Light fare and refreshments will be served.
On Saturday, October 17, the College will present the Alumni Showcase, an open forum for former students to speak about their artwork. The Showcase is a “come and go as you please” event, and runs from 2-5 p.m. in the President’s Dining Room of the Hibbard Campus Center.
The events conclude on the evening of October 17 with the Alumni Art 09 awards ceremony, at which award recipients from the exhibit will be announced. Prizes will be given to selected pieces in various categories, including a $1,000 Best of Show. The awards ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. in Hibbard Campus Center, and will feature a full buffet and live music from the Marko Marcinko Jazz Trio. Tickets are $25, and may be reserved by calling 945-8161.
All events that are part of the exhibit Alumni Art 09 are open to the public.
“Keystone College has produced so many extraordinary alumni in the visual arts that an exhibit such as this is a small way to acknowledge their achievements,” said Drake Gómez, director of the Linder Gallery. “On the other hand, it is an exhibit that is long overdue, and I think will be as exceptional a group show as each alumnus is exceptional individually.”
The juror for this exhibition is New York artist Jeff Russell, known professionally simply as “Jeff.” Jeff’s paintings, prints, and photographs have been shown in exhibitions worldwide, and are in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the National Museum of American Art, Washington, D.C., and the High Museum of Art, Atlanta, among other U.S. museums, and in collections ranging from Europe and South America to Asia and the Middle East. Jeff’s work has also been featured in Art in America, Artforum, Arts Magazine, and The New York Times, among other notable publications.
